Montessori Home Environment offers after school care for the younger children every day from 11:45am to 2:45pm following the morning Montessori work cycle. This option for parents and carers provides their child with a nurturing Montessori classroom environment which continues to build self-confidence and positive social behaviour. It also helps the children develop friendships outside of their normal classroom group as they may merge with children from other classes. Many of the 3 year olds are not ready to remain at school for the longer day and they are sometimes too tired to participate in the activities. Afternoon sleep is not part of the program. MHE provides craft, cooking, art, reading, creative arts and sometimes some outdoor play depending on the weather and the needs of the children. Children bring their lunch if they are attending MHE.
MHE can be booked casually for single or multiple days if and when the child is able to manage a longer day.
Our BSC is open from 7.00am until 8.30am in our OOSH room. Children will be provided a basic breakfast until 7.45am. At 8.30am our staff will escort the pre-primary children to their classroom and sign them in for parents. Primary children will be supervised by staff in the playground from 8.00am and will then go to their classroom at 8.30am when their lessons begin.
After school care is available to pre-primary and primary children daily from 2.45pm to 6.00pm. This is held on site in our OOSH room. The children participate in activities such as craft and games and are provided a nutritious afternoon tea by the staff. The children can socialise and create friendships outside of the classroom environment.
The school provides care for children in pre-primary and primary during non-term time for 8 weeks of the school holidays throughout the school year. This operates from 8.00am to 6.00pm on weekdays. School assistants will normally run OOSH on pupil free days throughout the year. The school closes for four weeks just prior to Christmas and in early January but is open at all other holiday times except Public Holidays.
We offer a varied program during Vacation Care time. Apart from the usual craft, sport and games we also offer incursions at additional cost from time to time. Children from surrounding schools may also book in for Vacation Care and our families are welcome to invite other children and their friends to our Vacation Care program. Priority is given to enrolled children of Northside.
All cancellations require a minimum notice period of 48 hours by telephone (9144 2835 or firstname.lastname@example.org) – specifically this means before 10am two business days prior to your booking. Cancellations after this time will attract the full session fee for the booking.
Families can receive the 50% Child Care Rebate for MHE, ASC and Vacation Care at our Northside Campus.
