Newsletter Friday 12 April, Week 10 Term 1, 2024
“As we observe children, we see the vitality of their spirit, the maximum effort put forth in all they do, the intuition, attention and focus they bring to all life’s events, and the sheer joy they experience in living.”
Maria Montessori, The Child, Society and the World (Unpublished Speeches and Writing)
Today is the last day of Term 1. It has been a wonderful start to the year and such a pleasure to see all our new families join our school community in 2024. Despite the weather, we enjoyed our Welcome Event last Friday evening and this was a great opportunity for our community to come together.
As a school we greatly appreciate the support of our families and students in our community, and hope that all those families who are new to Northside feel welcomed.
As I write this many of our 9-12 families and some in our Adolescent Program have either begun their travels to MMUN in Rome or are about to begin their travels for this event which will occur at the commencement of Term 2. We wish all those families and students travelling to Rome for this event safe travels and we hope that they have a very enjoyable Montessori Model United Nations Conference. The students have certainly worked hard in their preparation for this event and it will be an excellent experience for them. Thank you to Janene and Margaret for their work with students in this program, and we look forward to hearing about this in Term 2.
I do hope that as we head into the holiday period, you will have a safe and restful time. As well as our MMUN families, there are many who are taking this opportunity to travel, so hope that you all keep safe and we look forward to Term 2 which commences on Monday 29 April.
I want to wish everyone a restful break.
Kind regards
Adam Scotney

Demountable Classrooms in the Carpark
This weekend we anticipate the arrival of two demountable classrooms to be delivered and installed at the Southern end of the carpark. These classrooms will be used as the temporary classrooms for our Orana and Amaroo 9-12 classes while our construction work is underway.
With these classrooms in place, this will significantly reduce the available parking for parents at drop off and pick up. As previously mentioned, we would encourage parents of primary and secondary aged children to park outside the school and walk in. We would also encourage parents to arrange a pick up location on the street after school to avoid the need to enter the carpark.
We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that our carpark operates smoothly over the coming months.
In Gunyah
Over the past couple of weeks our 6-9 Gunyah class have moved form their classroom in the J1 classroom while we commence our building works. It has been so lovely to see this class settle quickly into their new classroom and continue with their excellent work which was evident at the presentation night.
